Xi Alpha Iota

Xi Alpha Iota chapter meets on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month at 7:30 in the homes of our members primarily in Calgary’s south east and north east quadrants. Our meetings generally consist of one business and one program meeting a month. All meetings foster friendship, laughter and learning.

We currently have 17 members in Jewels, Exemplar, Preceptor, Laureate, and Master degrees. Our members are in their 30's, 40’s, 50's, and 60’s,  single and married, some with young children, some with teenagers, some empty nesters, many are still working, some are retired. A diverse group of ladies, we all have something in common - having fun and enjoying each other's company.

We raise money to support our chapter through in chapter raffles, the sale of Entertainment and Student Union books and Vessey bulb sales.

Some of our past outings have included “cheap seat” movie nights; ladies weekend away to Canmore, Victoria and Gull Lake; day trip shopping/sight seeing to Okotoks, Black Diamond, Saskatoon Berry Farm, Canmore, Cochrane; summer garden/patio get togethers.

As a regular service project at Christmas we adopt a referred/isolated senior from the Seniors Secret Service Society and purchase personal items, food and gift certificates for them in hopes it will make their season a bit brighter. We have also collected personal items for the Drop In Centre and Mustard Seed Warm Feet for the Street program. An annual clothing exchange within the group renders any remaining clothing/accessory items being donated to the Walk-In Closet supporting women returning to the work force as well as Gems for Gems, which supports victims of abuse.
